More On Peyton
Her Inspiration for The American Lieutenant

Peyton Garver was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland; however she and her three brothers spent most of their childhood in Europe.

Peyton's father served in the army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Following his military career he worked as a civilian in the Department of Defense, and because of his career, the family spent years abroad. In her early years, Peyton’s family lived in Orléans, France before moving to Zweibrücken, Germany.  From Zweibrücken, the family moved back to the States and then back to Germany, where they lived in Augsburg for a number of years before returning to Maryland.

Her family enjoyed traveling, and from their time residing in France and Germany they took full advantage, touring and sightseeing throughout Europe.

"I feel blessed to have experienced so much of this world directly through travel and vicariously through novels.

"I've always been fascinated with the history of WW2. But, the spark that actually ignited the idea to write The American Lieutenant, a WW2 romance set mostly in England, came when I was sifting through photographs of my father’s service in the 82nd Airborne. After reading from various sources about the preparation and training of the Allied forces for Operation Neptune in Great Britain, I meshed the stories of D-Day preparation with a romance between a British girl and an American GI. It is my hope that others will enjoy reading The American Lieutenant as much as I enjoyed creating the story.”

Peyton is an associate member of Romance Writers of America. She has just completed a young adult novel, Sublime Karma, that will be published this fall. Peyton has resided in Maryland ever since her return from Europe. She graduated from Havre de Grace High School and is an alumna of Towson State University where she earned her degree with a major in education. Shortly thereafter, Peyton earned her Masters Degree in education. She has since been teaching history and science to secondary students in Baltimore and Montgomery Counties in Maryland.
